The 10:15 AM liturgy, Holy Eucharist using contemporary language, is a welcoming service for both adults and children. At this later service, we enjoy a strong tradition of music-organ, choir, and congregational singing. Our musical style includes ancient hymns, old favorites and contemporary works.
Wednesdays Holy Eucharist is celebrated at 10:00 AM, and at this service we offer the ancient tradition of anointing with oil and praying for healing of body, mind, or spirit. Most Wednesdays, this service is offered in a chapel in the Old Rectory building.
Thursdays Evening Prayer is said in the church at 6:30 PM. We pray the Collects (prayers) and read the Holy Scriptures appointed for the day, Anglicans believe that praying shapes our belief; therefore, we mark beginning and ending of the day with prayer and scripture reading. Evening Prayer is one of the Daily Offices.
We worship using all the resources of the 1979 Book of Common Prayer, the 1982 Hymnal, and the supplemental Episcopal hymnals, Wonder, Love & Praise and Lift Every Voice, and, occasionally, prayers and music from other churches in the Anglican Communion. Our service generally includes readings from four portions of scripture, a sermon which tries to relate the Biblical message to our practical lives, prayers and Holy Communion. As in every Eucharistic celebration at St. Luke's, all baptized Christians are welcome and urged to come forward to receive the bread and wine of the Holy Communion.
